Wastewater Pipes Transporting Silt and Stones in West Romania
In Ip, a village in the northwest of the country, the highway crosses an old pipeline. During floods the line conveys large amounts of stormwater which also contains pieces of wood, silt and sharp stones. The line had to be replaced and the road company went about searching for a suitable material, durable enough to withstand the abrasion and to improve the water discharge. After a thorough comparison of materials and basing their choice also on past experience CNADNR and the engineering company opted for HOBAS Products. The available range of diameters, the leak tight couplings, the pipes’ excellent hydraulic properties as well as their corrosion and abrasion resistance convinced the client to have found the optimal solution.A 2 mm resin layer acts as protective shield on the inner surface of the HOBAS Pipe. This key factor regarding abrasion and corrosion resistance is uniquely applied with the centrifugal casting process and can be varied in thickness to suit the given requirements.
