Slipling with GRP Pipes of an Existing Egg-Shaped Concrete Channel in Ploiesti
The existing egg-shaped concrete channel was in a bad condition and over-sized for the given amount of sewage. Due to its large cross section it could be renewed by sliplining a circular pipe. The constructor carried out an extensive comparison of available pipe materials and finally opted for a HOBAS CC-GRP Pipe System. Reasons for this were the outstanding technical support and expertise offered by HOBAS as well as the excellent properties of HOBAS Products that economically and technically fulfilled all set requirements. The pipes’ high chemical resistance, their easy and fast installation, their tight couplings as well as the excellent hydraulic properties of the mirror-like smooth inner surface were some of the numerous technical advantages that confirmed the investor’s choice. Some of the bends on the S-shaped route of the concrete sewer have a radius of 120 degrees. A HOBAS Pipe Advisor inspected the line, thoroughly analyzing its form and curves. Thanks to well-thought-out calculations, the HOBAS Team was able to draw-up a solution for the curves that omitted costly fittings and enabled a flexible installation on site: Short 1 to 3 meter pipe sections with 3° angular cuts were utilized over a length of 36 meters.
