Potable Water
70000 m
Following a severe period of draught, the city of Bouaké was provided with a new effective water management system. Amiblu supplied 70 km of GRP pipes for the project.
Bouaké is the second-largest city in Ivory Coast with a population of around 740,000. In late spring and summer of 2018, the city experienced an acute water supply crisis due to the drying up of the La Loka dam lake, the main source of water supply for the city and its surroundings.
To prevent such a crisis from happening again, the National Office of Potable Water in Ivory Coast (ONEP) commissioned a comprehensive water safety project. It consists of three main parts:
Amiblu delivered 70 km of GRP pressure pipes DN 1000 and 1200, PN 20, which were installed in open trench for the Bandama River pipeline and as supply channel for the potable water tank.
The chosen product type was Amiblu Flowtite Grey, an extra impact resistant filament wound pipe that is particularly suitable for rough installation conditions.
With a capacity of 6,000 m³/h, the new pipe infrastructure is capable of supplying sufficient water to the surrounding communities.
Amiblu has contributed to the project’s objectives to meet the water demand by 2045 and sustainably secure the drinking water supply system to more than 1.5 million people. The deliveries were completed in March 2021 while the complete piping system was put into operation in April 2022.
