Cooling and Process Water
5730 m
In March 2015, Amiblu received an order for the design and delivery of cooling water pipelines for the power plant Opole in southern Poland. Due to an expansion of the power plant, two independent cooling water systems were needed outside the engine room for the newly built power units No. 5 and 6. As part of the project, two independent pipeline systems DN 3400, PN 10 and SN 10,000 were constructed: for unit No. 5 with a total length of 505 m and for unit No. 6 spanning 225 m, both including fittings, supports and passages through reinforced concrete walls.
At the points where the axial forces act, thrust blocks and biaxial technology are used to transfer the axial forces. The installation was carried out in winter. Given the configuration of the cooling water pipelines beneath the roads, the investor proposed encasing the entire pipeline in concrete. Due to the expansion of the power plant by two new units, the investor also decided to build a new water treatment plant and a make-up water system for all blocks. In the years 2014-2018, Amiblu provided approx. 5 km of uni- and biaxial GRP pipes DN 300-1200 for all external water transport networks throughout the entire power plant.
