Airport Drainage System at Munich Airport Terminal 2
In extension for the landing field HOBAS CC-GRP Pipe Systems were installed. These pipes are exclusively used as drainage lines for the landing field East and installation depth was 1.5 – 2.5 m. Beginning end of 1997, about 15 km HOBAS CC-GRP Pipe Systems of DN 150 to DN 500 were installed. Quality demand of the airport management was a high resistance to chemical attack to the inner pipe surface in case of problems with fuel and oil handling between start and landing procedures and technical support of the airplanes. Further demand was the usability of a pipe system that consists of only one material for pipes and fittings. At least the pipe system should have mechanical characteristics, that allowed to install it in a landing field area of heavy airplanes (high traffic load). Following that, HOBAS pipes and fittings with SN 10000 and resin quality VA were used. To handle the car traffic between the building activities at Terminal 2, the costumer sacrificed the green areas in front of Terminal1 to build short parking zones. Above these parking zones, HOBAS CC-GRP Pipe Systems of DN 1000 and DN 1200 were installed. Beginning of this lot was in 2000. The main reasons for using of HOBAS CC-GRP Pipe Systems in this case are the resistance to heavy traffic load of airplanes in combination with the corrosion resistance of HOBAS pipe material.
