In 2018, Amiblu contributed to a major hydraulic infrastructure project in Algeria, aimed at significantly enhancing agricultural productivity in the region of Sétif. The project involved the irrigation of 9,391 hectares of farmland by conveying water from the El-Maouane reservoir.

To support this project, Amiblu supplied high-quality GRP pipes and fittings for two separate lots. These are being executed by two of the most prominent Algerian contractors: Chiali Services S.P.A. and Amenhyd S.P.A. The pipes have been manufactured at Amiblu’s manufacturing facilities in Spain and were shipped in containers to Algeria through the Port of Bejaia, ensuring a steady and efficient supply chain to the project site.

The total supply comprised approximately 30 kilometers of GRP pipes, with diameters ranging from DN 600 to DN 1200 and pressure ratings from PN 6 to PN 16. These pipelines are specifically designed for irrigation use and will play a crucial role in distributing water across the agricultural lands covered by the project.

GRP was selected as the material of choice for this project due to its numerous advantages over traditional materials such as steel. GRP pipes are significantly easier to install thanks to their lightweight nature and user-friendly jointing systems. They are inherently corrosion-free, making them especially suitable for buried and water-intensive environments without the need for additional protective coatings. The material offers excellent hydraulic performance with optimal head loss values, contributing to energy savings during operation. Furthermore, GRP pipes offer a longer operational lifetime and prove more economical than steel in large diameters, which makes them particularly attractive for extensive infrastructure projects like this one.
