“Amiblu is a company that promotes professional and personal growth.”
Interview with Angel Simon, Project Manager at Amiblu Pipes Spain #WeAreAmiblu
Angel Simon is responsible for the planning, execution and supervision of various types of GRP pipe projects. What he values most about his job? The common mindset and the fantastic vibes within the team. Find more details about his day-to-day life at Amiblu in this interview.
What is the pace of work at a company like Amiblu?
Very dynamic and demanding, but also very rewarding. Each day, new challenges arise that drive us to improve and keep us motivated. It is essential to work with good planning in order to meet deadlines and guarantee the quality of the projects.
Describe a working day at Amiblu.
The day starts with a good cup of coffee, followed by a review of incoming emails to prioritize tasks. After that, I coordinate projects with other departments, review technical details and make sure everything is going according to plan. The most important thing for me is to be available for my colleagues and help solve any issues that may arise.
What do you value most about your job?
The diversity of projects that I manage and the importance that the installations made with our GRP pipes will have in the future. I also greatly value the coordination we have between the different departments. We all work with the same objective: that the project turns out the way we want it to. This teamwork is something I deeply admire.
What is the funniest moment you remember with your department colleagues?
I can’t choose just one, because there are so many. There is a very healthy atmosphere in my department, with empathy and good vibes. Since I’ve been working here we haven’t had a single tense day, and that says a lot about the team.
Tell us about an Amiblu project that you remember for its uniqueness.
The most unique project to date is the one I am currently working on. It is an aerial installation with a 3000 diameter pipe. This project has many peculiar aspects; from the support and expansion of the pipe to the slope. And, above all, the size of the pipes make the installation particularly complex. Everything has to be manufactured with millimeter precision so that the result is perfect.
If you hadn’t become a Project Manager at Amiblu, you would have chosen to be…
Probably an inventor or some other job related to innovation. I have always had an inquiring mind and I love to look for creative solutions to problems. I am very motivated by the idea of creating something from scratch, something that makes life easier or solves an important challenge. Inventing, for me, is a way to help people and, at the same time, to give free rein to my constant curiosity.
Amiblu has started an internal transformation process to reduce the environmental impact of its products and contribute to energy saving. What is your opinion about this process?
I think it is an essential initiative, and I am very proud to be part of it. Not only because it is the way forward for us as a society, but also because it demonstrates Amiblu’s commitment to the future. I firmly believe that sustainability is not an option, it is an obligation.
Amiblu is a company that…
Promotes professional and personal growth.
If Amiblu were a value, it would be…
Sustainability. Because everything we do has a forward-looking approach and a commitment to a better world.
When you leave your workplace at Amiblu, we will find you…
I am currently involved in football, specifically with my local team, U.E. Aldeana. I coach a women’s 11-a-side football team and I am also a member of the club’s board of directors. When I finish my day at Amiblu you will probably find me there, organizing activities or working to make the club even better than it already is.
How do you imagine your future at Amiblu?
I imagine myself linked to Amiblu for many years to come. I think I still have a lot to learn, grow and contribute. I would also love to continue contributing to innovative projects that have a positive impact on the environment and society. I’m a firm believer in the phrase: ‘Turn your work into your hobby, and you won’t have to work anymore’. If you add to this the healthy atmosphere at Amiblu, you can’t ask for more.
