Amiblu Spain participates in the expansion of the Zeebrugge LNG plant for Fluxys, an offshore facility in the North Sea
One year ago, approximately, Amiblu began to work on the assembly of the new GRP pipelines in the expansion of the LNG plant for the Belgian energy company Fluxys, at the Zeebrugge terminal, 15 km from the city of Bruges.
A real challenge for the entire Amiblu Spain team, that had to work on an installation right at the shore of the North Sea, including various inclement weather conditions such as strong storms that have further increased the complexity of the work.
The purpose of the Zeebrugge terminal consists of the conversion process of liquefied natural gas LNG, stored in the five tanks that Fluxys currently has in its terminal, to a gaseous state prior to its introduction into the supply network. The GRP pipes are in charge of circulating the water taken directly from the sea, which intervenes in the heat exchange to transform the gas from its liquid state to a gaseous one.
In this sense, Amiblu Spain has fully manufactured all the GRP/GRV pipes at its factory in Camarles (Tarragona), has designed and supplied all the steel supports and has also supplied the necessary equipment in the system such as expansion and vents.
Specifically, at the factory that Amiblu has in Camarles, pipes and accessories with diameters DN 1400 (520 m) and DN 900 (90 m) have been manufactured and supplied for the supply of sea water to the vaporizers, the equipment in which the conversion is carried out, DN 1000 (230 m) for seawater discharge pipes, as well as DN 800 (40 m) /DN 600 (120 m) / DN 350 (600 m) for auxiliary systems and DN 100/80/50 for drains and instrumentation connections. For the expansion of the fire protection system (GRE), pipes and accessories in diameters DN 200/DN 150/DN 80 have been manufactured and supplied.
The project, which is scheduled to be completed in May 2023, has involved great coordination on the part of Amiblu Spain with the rest of the contractors, as well as with the client and their staff for the correct progress of the work without damaging the production of the plant or risk to existing facilities which are fully operational.
A real challenge and, at the same time, an authentic privilege to have the opportunity to work directly for a client with Fluxys credentials.
