From activism to action’ism: Congrats to the winners of the Energy Globe Austria
“We will not keep this planet livable merely through sacrifice, by restricting our basic needs. We need to find ways to satisfy these needs in sustainable and environmentally friendly ways.” Surprising words in a time where “Don’ts” and “Lesses” seem on a global agenda, right? And yet, the event surrounding these words offers the best example for their validity: It’s the Energy Globe Award, and these are the words of its Managing Director Alexander Frech.
At the recent Energy Globe Austria award ceremony in Vienna, several passionate “action’ists” presented their innovative ideas for aligning the health of our environment with livability and convenience.
The category Water is under the patronage of Amiblu. Here, the passionate team of the Water Cooperative “Unteres Traisental” embraced the award for their project “Aqua Repono”, which is Latin for “water storage”. The region Unteres Traisental suffers water scarcity, and Aqua Repono aims to store surplus water in order to make it available in dry periods. This will secure the local fruit and wine growing in the long term.
Congrats to the winners and all fantastic nominees for taking activism to action’ism! We can’t wait to watch your “children” grow!
