Amiblu Pipes Spain becomes the first European factory of CO2 neutral GRP pipes

After obtaining the “Compenso” seal of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (MITECO) and obtaining the highest certification for green energy from clean sources, “100% Sustainable Energy” by the National Commission for Markets and Competition (CNMC), Amiblu Pipes Spain has become the first European factory of CO2 neutral GRP pipes.

Thanks to the strategic ecological transition plan “Amiblu Green 2022-2024“, Amiblu Pipes Spain has reduced CO2 emissions by 62% in three years, going from 1,700 tons of CO2 in 2020 to 645 tons in 2022, with turnover levels higher than in previous years. In 2023, Amiblu estimates a further 30% reduction to 470 tons of CO2. By additionally offsetting emissions through participation in the reforestation of the Borela forest in Cerdedo-Cotobade (Pontevedra), Amiblu Spain has now become the most efficient factory in the Amiblu Group.

In the last three years, Amiblu has made significant investments to reduce CO2 emissions. 2,000 solar panels were installed at the Camarles plant, generating 942,000 kWh of electricity per year, which is equivalent to 51% of the plant’s energy consumption. The company has also implemented circularity in its production system, in order to use recycled resins in its manufacturing process and reuse surpluses, and incorporated an ECOTasa in commercial offers. Another important service are EPDs (Environmental Product Declaration) for all Amiblu products, in accordance with European environmental certification standards.
