GRP pipes replace old wooden penstock at the hydropower plant Auwehr
This is the story of a well-deserved retirement, a new “worker” brimming with energy, and a top-notch collaboration.
After 23 years, the wooden penstock at the hydropower plant Auwehr in Austrian Mürzzuschlag was decommissioned. Built of Scandinavian Larch staves, its wall thickness had shrunk by almost 7 cm at the end of its service life. The new penstock was built of 1100 m Amiblu GRP pressure pipes DN 2500 and DN 2700. It now helps produce green energy and will reliably serve the next generations.
